Update w/e 4th August 2019

Some Grosvenor success to report this week! Last Saturday, Jo Cartwright played in the Kent ladies' two-wood singles final. In rainy conditions but the green playing well at Cranbrook Bowls Club, Jo overcame her opponent from Empire Bowls Club (Greenhithe) to become Kent champion - congratulations, Jo! She will compete in the first round of the national championships in Leamington Spa on Tuesday 13th August.
In the Tunbridge Wells Mixed Triples League, a couple of away matches without picking up any points cost Grosvenor the top spot, and despite a good win over Groombridge in the last game, we have finished as runners-up, a single point behind winners Grove A. This is still great achievement having only been promoted to the top division last season. Well done to the team!
In our friendly matches, we have lost the last couple (away at Culverden and in a drive against the SEC 10 pin bowlers), but we've enjoyed the games against lovely people. Today (Saturday) we travel to Paddock Wood to challenge ourselves on their artificial green.
On Monday, the Tunbridge Wells Tournament begins with the singles on Monday morning.
10am:
Graham Bridges (the Grove)
Chris Tapp (Culverden)
Lionel Hanmore (Culverden)
1pm:
Norman Barton (Culverden)
Steve Jenner has received a bye into the second round. All second round matches begin at 10am on Tuesday. Check the tournament website, Grosvenor Facebook page, or this news page for results.
The triples competition begins at 5.45pm on Monday and Graham Bridges' triple will be playing at Culverden. Norman Barton's triple received a bye and will be playing at the Grove on Tuesday evening at 5.45pm.
Good luck to all Grosvenor players! If you can, please go along during the week to support our players and the hosting clubs!
