Latest update - time for bowls?
28 May 2020 at 23:00:00
The go ahead has been given for outdoor activities such as bowls, where it is possible to socially distance. Bowls England have released guidance as to how clubs should operate in order to play safely. See it here.
Your committee have discussed the issue with regard to Grosvenor and Norman Barton, Club Secretary, speaks on their behalf:
"Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all keeping safe and well during these unprecedented times?
I thought I would update you all as to where we are with bowling this season.
After consulting the committee I have written to the council to say we will not be starting bowling yet. There was an option to start using the green from 1st June, but with the guidance from Bowls England/Kent bowls and our own committee have decided against this.
The committee will look again at the situation mid June to see if some practice sessions could start in July. There is a lot to think about though, social distancing, shared equipment cleansing and use of facilities to name but a few.
Unless things change dramatically matches against other teams looks unlikely, due in no small part to peoples travel arrangement to matches.
I and the committee wish you all a safe summer and look forward to catching up when the time is right. If anyone has a thought or queries please do not hesitate to contact me. I will send out an update if and when things change.
Kind regards
Norman"
The Committee are currently working on a guide for bowling safely at Grosvenor for when we open up for play. Please keeping reading here and check your emails for communications from the club, and please get in contact with your captain or committee (see who they are here) if you have any concerns, or need support, or if you just fancy keeping in touch!
See you soon, we hope!
