Coronavirus and bowls

Everyone is understandably concerned and uncertain about how the next few months will go regarding the outbreak of Coronavirus. I think it goes without saying that the safety and wellbeing of all bowlers is our priority. The Grosvenor Committee are currently discussing things (from separate locations!).
What we do know?
Bowls England have made a statement which you can read in full here. The basic outline is that all domestic events for the 20/21 season have been cancelled. This includes ALL national competitions - the county competitions are the early rounds of the nationals.
The Kent County Bowling Association (KCBA) and the Kent County Women's Bowling Association (KCWBA) have both made the same decision to cancel County events, competitions, friendly matches etc. for the 20/21 season. You can read their joint statement here.
The Tunbridge Wells Mixed Triples League has also been cancelled for this season. Ken Smith on behalf of the League organisers said, "The Tunbridge Wells league is cancelled for this year due to the Governments guidelines on the Corona virus." He added that he hoped we all stay safe and well.
The Tunbridge Wells Ladies League has decided to cancel the league, but agreed to maintain faint hope that maybe some matches may be played later in the season if the situation improves. However, the safety of all will be the guiding factor.
This is not the news we were all expecting when we played our match against the TW Royals at the end of February, and is a disappointment for us all, but Grosvenor Bowls Club will be raring to go when it is safe enough to play!
We will keep you informed as things develop. In the meantime, stay safe and well, and if any of our members are in need of assistance, please contact us!
